In anticipation of paved roads that may or may not come, all trees are being ripped out of residential areas. Cars three abreast will be able to drive quickly down streets full of children.
Trees here are hard-won. I'm depressed to walk by stumps that have grown for 60 years. They keep the town from being too hot, help with the dust, and look beautiful.
Maybe in 60 more years someone will get an idea that they should plant trees alongside the road.

This kind of wanton destruction which is no stranger to our country either, leaves me also with such sadness. We groan together longing for the day when all things will of Restored.
