A better blog/iTunes Genius

For these two weeks, my parents are Down Under. It's the first time they've ever left North America together. Right now they're with Dad's friend of 37 years, Ian and his wife Janet, touring the South Island of New Zealand. On Monday they'll take a series of cheap flights, thank you HEK Travel, and hopefully make it to Tasmania off of south Australia. The new version of iTunes has turned me into a veritable Ali Arant. If you haven't yet used the Genius function, let me tell you how you, too, can make really good music mixes. Seriously, I used to be so lame at this, but iTunes Genius takes one song, looks at what you own and what you could own if you bought it from them, and makes playlists of 25, 50, 75, or 100 songs.

My three fave lists were generated from Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run," Lisa Loeb's "Stay," and equally from Vampire Weekend's "Oxford Comma" or Santogold's "L.E.S. Artistes." Of course the outcome depends on you to own Fiona Apple, Alanis Morissette, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Natalie Merchant, The Bodyguard soundtrack, and Vanessa Williams songs to compliment Lisa Loeb.
