The aid community is a unique dating scene. If you're not careful you could very easily end up with someone from a different continent. And that's not because it's easy to fall in love in the petri dish of expatriate communities.
Last night as I lay in bed I though of my friends of the past two years, particularly those off seeking their fortune of love over Christmas and New Years. In order to give it a chance they had to leave the country. Here are the whos and the wheres, to give you an idea:
She (USA/works in Lebanon) He (Mexican/German worked in Afgh)
Met up in the US.
She (Dutch/works in Afgh) He (USA/works in Afgh)
Met up in the Netherlands.
She (British/works in Afgh) He (Irish/works in East Jerusalem)
Met up in Israel.
She (USA/works in Afgh) He (USA/works in Kansas)
Met up in Greece.
As best I know, there is one "A wedding is sure to happen...probably this fall," one has quit her job to be with him (ahead of this visit), and two couples outstanding. The suspense is killing me!
