Today is ANZAC Day, which commemorates Australia and New Zealands' campaign at Gallipoli, Turkey (WWI). It's also serves as Veteran's Day. Chris' dad was a part of the Polish resistance (WWII), so I went with her, her daughters, and granddaughter to watch him march in the parade.
It's a wild concept, this parade. Everyone who used to be enemies marches together as old men or their progeny. Veterans from Australia, Turkey, Germany, Italy, Japan, plus Nepalese Gurkhas, Serbs, Dutch, Poles, Americans, Brits, Greeks, Marshallese, Ceylonese, Indian, Vietnamese, etc. honored for the bravery of their youth, if not their cause. But all the attendees clap.
It makes something about war seem absurd. You can imagine.
