the end of the road trip

23-28 June. I don't have a map but here's the route home, for imagining.

A. North Carolina to Washington, D.C. Mick and I drove up to visit Abby for the weekend. She showed us a good time, though did overbook herself and ended up at Dave Matthews without us on Saturday night. Also got to sit around the table with the Garbers again, and also the Greys, family friends from my parents' Regent College days. One thing I lost in the fire was the stuffed globe they sent me from Saudi Arabia in about 1984, one of their first state department posts. It had the USSR on it.

B. D.C. to Indianapolis, Indiana. Drive, Drive, Drive to stay with Sarah and Pat Smits, of JBU fame. Or more specifically, Sarah of Irish Studies 2002 fame and Pat of captain of the JBU 2005 NAIA National Championship basketball team fame. Plus their sweet baby, Will.

C. Indianapolis to Lincoln, Nebraska. More return to JBU athletics as we stayed with Jairin Drevo and her husband/family. The Drevos are currently spending nine months a year in Europe with Andrew playing basketball, in Sweden the first year and France most recently. Jairin was a JBU volleyballer and Andrew was a U of NE basketball star. Self-proclaimed as only ever wanting to live in Lincoln, it was fun to hear J's stories and reflections on where God has taken them.

D. Lincoln to Albin, Wyoming to Wheatland, Wyoming. Mick survived a bout of car crazy before we stopped by Gr. Pat & Bankaws' for dinner. Then home to the quick days of wedding and packing.
