Tonight was the third place game. Germany was the favorite and they came through, 3-1. I spent the evening on the Fan Mile which stretches from the Brandenburg Gate to the Victory Column. As you might imagine, it was packed with German fans.
They were rowdy, to be sure, but I'm not sure how rowdy. The only thing I understood was their "Auf Wiedersehen" cheer when Portugal's retiring star, Figo, came on the screen. Lots more little vids at YouTube.


I may be trying to do too many things with this picture, but from the left is the American Embassy in progress, a World Cup icon missing the better part of west Africa, and the Brandenburg Gate.
